LEGAZPI City, Oct. 3, 2012—Episcopal Commission on Youth Vice Chairman and San Jose, Nueva Ecija Bishop Roberto “Bobet” Mallari told participants attending the National Conference for Youth Ministers (NCYM) that being called and chosen by Christ is a unique gift and a privilege.

“Jesus is the one who called you and chose you. Priests and coordinators are only instruments in empowering you,” Mallari, presiding the Mass on the second day of the NCYM congress, said.

Mallari emphasized that to be chosen by Christ is actually a call into an intimate relationship with Jesus and as youth ministers, the challenge is for them to show what it means to have Jesus lives in us.

He encouraged the participants to allow Jesus to enter into their lives and of other people.

“I hope that we would be able to appreciate how important our role is to the youth ministry and how we are privileged and blessed. Encountering Jesus is a privilege and we must encounter him in a deeper way,” he said.

He also reminded them to remain in Jesus always and allow themselves to be transformed by his presence.

Mallari further urged the young people to listen to what God wants and wills for them and do exactly what he wants. (Jandel Posion)
