Pasig diocese celebrates 10th anniversary

PASIG City, August 24, 2013—The Diocese of Pasig will celebrate its tenth year of existence as an ecclesiastical territory on August 26.

Originally slated to celebrate its foundation on August 21, the diocese moved the date on August 26 due to monsoon rains that affected Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Several programs were held intended to make the lay faithful be aware on the values of belonging to the local Church of Pasig where they are called to grow in the love for and following the Lord Jesus Christ.

Part of the celebration was the visitation—dubbed as “Dalaw Patrona sa Parokya,”— of the official replica of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the diocese, to selected cities/towns within the diocese.

The parishes visited were the Holy Rosary in Lower Bicutan, Taguig; San Roque in Pateros; and Sta. Lucia in Manggahan, Pasig City, from July 5 to July 22.

On August 26, Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara and the clergy will celebrate the Mass at 7:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.

After the mass, Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle will give a talk on the theme: “Tugon ng Pasig sa 10 Taon ng biyaya: Pasasalamat, Pagpapanibago, at Pananalig Kay Kristo.”

Fr. Orly Cantillon will present the results of the Vicarial Assemblies while Fr. Lito Jopson will present a video clip of the Diocese in 10 years.

A procession of the Patron saints of all parishes in the diocese will culminate the celebration. (Jandel Posion)
