Church groups hold forum, protest against hospital privatization

MANILA, June 19, 2013—Church-based groups and its lay partner will hold a forum and protest this June 24, Monday, against privatization of the Philippine Orthopedic Hospital in Quezon City.

Dubbed as “The poor as the sacrificial lamb on the altar of privatization of Philippine Orthopedic Hospital,” the forum is organized by the Church People-Workers Solidarity (CWS), Religious Discernment Group (RDG) and the Koalisyon Laban sa Pagsasapribado ng Philippine Orthopedic Center from 9:00 -11:30 a.m. at the De Meester Residence, ICM Compound, D. Tuazon St., Quezon City.

Activities include welcome remarks from the Coalition Against Privatization of Philippine Orthopedic Hospital (CAPPOH), and a talk by Mr. Sean Velchez, RN, convenor of CAPPOH, followed by open forum and a call to action against the privatization of public hospitals.

After the forum, participants will hold a protest action in front of the hospital from 12:00-1:00 p.m. (Jandel Posion)
