Anti-mining advocates bike against Mining Act

MANILA, June 19, 2013—Some 20 cyclists and anti-mining advocates are prepping up their bikes to demand the repeal of Mining Act of 1995 and the enactment of Alternative Minerals Management Bill (AMMB).

Led by Tao Muna Hindi Mina Campaign and SOS-Yamang Bayan Network, the cyclists on June 20 will bike from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) office in Visayas Avenue, Quezon City all the way to the Supreme Court in Manila to press the repeal of the said legislation.

The bikers will pass by Quezon Avenue, España Rotonda, Taft Avenue and end in Padre Faura where the Supreme Court’s office is located. The protest activity will start from 8 to 10 a.m. followed by a short program in front of SC. (Jandel Posion)
