MANILA, Dec. 4, 2012—Around 5,000 young people from the Archdiocese of Manila and nearby dioceses are expected to attend a thanksgiving event for Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.
Titled “KAibigan TOTOo (Katoto): Kardinal Chito”, the event is a special gathering reserved for all the youth to meet the world’s 2nd youngest Cardinal up-close and personal.
Organized by the Archdiocesan Commission on Youth of Manila (ACYM), the gathering hopes to inspire the young to imitate the Christ-like traits of Cardinal Tagle such as humility, joy, wisdom, faithfulness, servant leadership and being spirit-led, and move them to respond to the challenges of the Year of Faith.
The event is also an act of thanksgiving for all the years of service Cardinal Tagle has devoted to the Church as a leader and a servant.
Although organized by the Youth Commission, the event is also open to other parishioners and young people from other dioceses within the National Capital Region.
Activities during the gathering include video presentations and performances highlighting traits and characteristics that Cardinal Tagle are known for and have inspired the youth.
Segments during the program and performances of different youth groups will also emphasize how the Cardinal lived those traits, hoping to inspire the young to act the same way towards people in different aspects of their lives.
“It will be an avenue for the young to see the Cardinal as he really is, as a Cardinal and as a person,” organizers added.
ACYM Director Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan will also present the message of the youth to the Cardinal.
Attendees will have a simple commitment ceremony for the Year of Faith before culminating the event. (Jandel Posion)
