MANILA, March 11, 2013—Just as the conclave to elect the new Pontiff  convenes at the Sistine chapel in the Vatican tomorrow, a prayer vigil spearheaded by a youth group will be conducted at the Arzobispado de Manila Chapel of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila (RCAM) in Intramuros, Manila.

YouthPinoy, an organization under the auspices of the CBCP Media Office and the Episcopal Commission on Youth (ECY), has invited major religious organizations and faith communities to join the prayer vigil that will commence March 12.

The event will be opened tomorrow at 5PM with a Eucharistic Celebration to be presided  Msgr. Pedro Quitorio III, director of the Media Office of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), to be followed by an hourly vigil until midnight and every night thereafter, from 5pm to 12 midnight,  until a new pope is proclaimed.

Youth ministries, organizations or movements, campus ministries in dioceses under the National Capital Region (NCR), as well as the different Church sectors in nearby areas have also been invited to the vigil.

The faithful may also follow the vigil via live streaming at  www.youthpinoy.com

Immediately after Pope emeritus Benedict XVI’s February 28 resignation, YouthPinoy, which aims to promote online evangelization, also launched the Facebook page ‘Prayers for the Pope’ as a call to unity in prayer and intention.
