MANILA, Nov. 17, 2012—The Student Catholic Action of the Philippines (SCA Philippines) in the National Capital Region Cluster celebrated National Solidarity Day last Sunday, November 11 at the College of the Holy Spirit in Manila.

More than a hundred SCA NCR youth leaders from SCA units in schools, colleges and universities in the dioceses of Cubao, Kalookan, Parañaque and Pasig and the Archdiocese of Manila gathered to raise awareness and understanding of peace in the context of personal, family, local diocese, national and international situation.

The participants also reflected on the theme “Let Peace Talk” where youth leaders were reminded of promoting the SCA and its vision together with the spirituality and methodology of “See-Judge-Act” popularized from Cardinal Joseph Cardjin, the founder of young Christian workers Catholic group.

Ms. Ellerie Cruspero, SCA Liaison Officer for Luzon served as facilitator and speaker for the event.

A Mass celebrated by Frs. John Keenan and Bernard Martin from the Mission Society of St. Columban culminated the gathering.

Keenan in his homily pointed out the importance of the youth offering their time, talent and skills, and also the willingness to participate in achieving peace.

He also encouraged SCAns to be actively involved in the various peace programs of the Church. (JC Perez/Jandel Posion)
