WYD youth festival promotes cultural exchange

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, Nov. 5, 2012—To promote exchange of culture among the youth from different regions of Brazil and other countries in the upcoming World Youth Day celebration 2013 in this city, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is organizing a Youth Festival fo WYD participants.

The WYD 2013 website, www.rio2013.com/en, through the Department of Cultural and Religious Events of the Local Organizing Committee, is encouraging young people from all over the world to register and participate in the celebration by signing in for the Youth Festival that will run from July 22-28, 2013.

There are three categories for the youth festival: Music, Performing Arts and Exhibition. A group is allowed to sign up with more than one presentation.

“We are requiring interested participants that the presentation is in coherence with the teachings of the Church and technical qualification. Only Catholic Musical presentation will be accepted,” organizers said in their website.

Participants must be between 18-35 years old and those who are qualified in the festival are not necessarily pilgrims. Accepted groups and the location of their participation will be published on March 2013.
