MANILA, September 1, 2013—The recently concluded meeting of Pope Francis with young Catholics in Brazil has inspired a Filipino pilgrim to compose a song to evangelize others and encourage them to also “go and make disciples of all nations.”
Kuh Belarmino of the Couples for Christ Singles for Family and Life (CFC-SFL) has written a song titled “Awakening,” after having been “awakened” during her World Youth Day (WYD) experience last July.
“The song is about awakening that missionary spirit in us, to ‘go and make disciples of all nations,” Belarmino told YouthPinoy, quoting the theme of this year’s WYD.
“I was really inspired by the theme of the WYD this year and it’s clear to me that in going to Brazil, I will not only experience Jesus again but this time I also have the task of being Jesus Christ to other people and pilgrims,” she added.
The 26-year-old lass from San Pablo City, Laguna said the entire WYD experience was her inspiration to compose the song, which already has earned 570 views since its publication last August 13.
“The whole experience inspire me to write this song actually because a lot happened in Brazil that affirmed the Lord’s plan for me. The clearest thing I knew at that moment is the new mission that the Lord is asking me to do and that is to step outside of my comfort zone and go out there to the world and have the courage to speak and introduce Christ to more people, not just in our community,” she pointed out.
Already a singer-composer of praise and worship songs, Belarmino said the WYD has affirmed her new mission to partake in the New Evangelization of the Church.
“(Because of the WYD), I know that God is asking me to work for the New Evangelization. In my case, it’s through my songs,” Belarmino added.
“I am blessed because I knew from the start that this is what God wants for me—to sing and write songs for His Glory. I guess I’m just responding to God’s call,” she added. (Youth Pinoy)
