MANILA, Dec. 17, 2014 – The Christmas spirit was especially alive when two hundred thirty poor kids from the Santisimo Rosario Parish took part in the parish’s gift-giving dubbed “Makibata” on Dec. 14 at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) covered court.

“The less fortunate look [forward] to this, that they will be getting something, a manifestation of love for the parish to them. Christmas is usually for kids,” said Bro. Rolando Ingaran, a leader of the Knights of Columbus, the lay organization that spearheads the annual Christmas activity.

The Christmas tree situated outside the parish was decorated through the sponsors of the event who donated Christmas trinkets.

The gift-giving commenced with a Eucharistic celebration followed by snacks, games, and fellowship.

The sponsors who shared their blessings included UST professors, students, the Social Service Development Ministry, Ladies of Charity, Catholic Women’s League and Knights of Columbus.

The parish will schedule another gift-giving for less fortunate parishioners to be organized by the parish pastoral council before the Noche Buena with gifts bought from Holy Mass collections from Sept. 28, 2014 to Oct. 6, 2014, the latter being the parish’s feast day.

Last Dec. 9, thirty poor elderly also received gifts from the Catholic Women’s League of the Santisimo Rosario parish. (Vanessa M. Puno/CBCPNews)
