CACERES CITY, Spain, August 15, 2011—The bishop of Coria-Caceres has described the Filipino World Youth Day (WYD) delegates that his parishes have hosted for the last five days as “very expressive” of their Catholic Faith.
In an interview with Cerro, made possible with the intervention of Bishop Jose Oliveros of Malolos, Bulacan, the Spanish prelate said he is “very contented” with the Filipino youth’s participation in the Days in the Diocese (DID) programs that his parishes have prepared for them.
Oliveros translated the questions posed to Cerro and translated the bishop’s answers in Spanish to English.
“Bishop Cerro said the Philippine delegation is very expressive of our Christian faith. He said he is very contented with the participation of our delegates and said it has served as an inspiration for them,” Oliveros said, quoting Cerro.
Cerro added that the parishes under the diocese of Coria Caceres that hosted the ECY-Philippines delegates are also contented with the attitude of the Filipino youth.
“The Filipino youth is very good and participative. The host families in general are very contented with them,” Oliveros said, quoting the Spanish bishop.
When asked of his message to the Filipino youth as they depart from Caceres City for Madrid later this afternoon, Cerro said: “Here (in the Days in the Diocese) we encounter Jesus alive. Jesus is living in the youth and the Church is also young. The Church is seen in the youth of today and so we hope that the youth of today will always carry the message of Christ.”
At noon today, Cerro, Oliveros and the bishops and priests of 15 other countries hosted by the diocese of Coria-Caceres will concelebrate a Mass with the WYD delegates before they leave for Madrid for the formal start of the week-long celebration of WYD. (YouthPinoy)
