MANILA, Sept. 10, 2013— An association of Catholic publishers will host a seminar on social media and how it could be used for evangelization on Sept. 12 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

The Asian Catholic Communications, Inc. (ACCI) said the seminar is primarily intended for school directors, principals, Christian living coordinators and teachers, catechists and lay leaders.

With the advent of new communication technologies, the group stressed the need for much learning about the social media as a tool for evangelization.

Invited speakers to talk about “Using Social Media for Evangelization” are coming from Communications Foundation for Asia, Jesuits Communication Foundation Inc., Paulines, Shepherds Voice Publication Inc., and Titus Brandsma Media Center.

The message of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI during the 44th World Communications Sunday “The Priest and Pastoral Ministry in a Digital World: New Media at the service of the Word” will also be discussed.

ACCI members include Bayard Assumption Media Foundation, Catholic Book Center, Claretian Communications Foundation Inc., Communication Foundation for Asia, Institute of Spirituality in Asia, Jesuit Communications, Logos Publications, Paulines Publishing House, Shepherd’s Voice Publications, Sinag Tala Publishers, St. Paul’s Publications, and Word and Life.

The association was founded by the late Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin, to promote the reign of God through communications media in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church. They also produce and make available catechetical and formation materials to the Catholic faithful.

For information about the seminar-workshop, interested participants may call the ACCI secretariat at (02) 833-2972 or 551-8800, fax no. 551-5395 or email mktgpmpt@paulines.ph. (Jandel Posion)
