MANILA, Jan. 15, 2013?After a Visayas group filed recently a petition against the newly signed Reproductive Health Law, the Supreme Court on Tuesday has received its fourth petition for a TRO from Mindanao.

The fourth petition for a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the RH law was filed by the Serve Life CDO, a medical services company and Rosevale Foundation, an educational institution both based in Cagayan de Oro City and led by Nestor Lumicao, a pediatric surgeon.

The 25-page petition questioning the provisions on the RH law was submitted by Anthony Lumicao (Nestor’s son) and according to him, they were the first petitioners against the RH law from the province of Mindanao and the first academic institution as co-petitioner.

The Task Force for Family and Life Visayas, Inc. was the third petitioner against the RH Law. The group, represented by Atty. Valeriano S. Avila, filed its petition last January 11 seeking the declaration of RA 10354 as unconstitutional. The first petition was filed by lawyers James Imbong and Lovely-Ann Imbong on January 2. The Alliance for the Family Foundation Philippines, Inc. (ALFI), together with members of its Board of Trustees, friends, their spouses, children and grandchildren filed the second petition on January 9.

President Benigno Aquino III signed the RH law last December 21, 2012. The SC has not scheduled yet when the petitions will be discussed.  [SocialActionNews/CBCPNews]
