Rome theologian to talk about goal of consecration

QUEZON City, June 5, 2013—Is the consecration to the Immaculate Heart just another devotion? What does it aim to achieve? A Rome-based theologian and exorcist is set to answer these questions in a series of talks on the ‘end goal’ of the consecration this June 8.

Some 1,050 people have already registered to attend the whole day exposition of Fr. Joseph Iannuzzi, STD of the Gregorian Pontifical University in Rome on the “proper theological presentation of the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

According to one of the organizers, who declined to be named, the objective of the event is to “encourage others to have a devotion to the Immaculate Heart and to support the plan of the CBCP for the consecration.”

An informally organized small group of Marian devotees decided to invite Fr. Iannuzzi to Manila to give a series of talks on the goal of consecration last January — even before the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) announced its decision to hold a national consecration.

Coincidental?

In an interview, one of the organizers admitted she saw the Blessed Virgin Mary at work in the “coincidental” timing of the event which will help Filipino Catholics grasp the purpose of the national and individual consecration.

“ I think it’s part of Mama Mary’s plan. We believe that she fixes everything,” she added.

A holy mass and consecration will be done at 10 a.m. during the event in support of the CBCP’s call for a national consecration.

The event will be held at the Miriam College auditorium from 7.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The widespread consecration of believers to the Immaculate Heart is believed to bring about the “triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary”, ushering in a “new era” of peace, joy and love in the world. [Nirva’ana Ella Delacruz]
