MANILA, August 29, 2013—The Focolare Movement in Luzon and Mariapolis Peace (Tagaytay City) celebrated the international recognition received by its publication in a recent gathering at the San Carlos Seminary in Makati City.
The New City Magazine Philippines by the Focolare Movement has been cited by a Geneva-based journalists’ union, the International Christian Organization of Media (ICOM), for the promotion of inter religious dialogue through its publication.
“This celebration would not be possible if the magazine did not remain faithful to its mandate, which is to be “that Donkey” that brings Jesus’ Message “That all may be one.” (John 17:21), as the founder of the Work of Mary (Focolare Movement) Chiara Lubich constantly reminds each New City Magazines all over the world,” organizers said.
The celebration also served as a book launching event for three new books published by the New City Press Philippines that are with academic relevance in the fields of Catechism for children, education, and economics.
Ms. Tita Datu-Puangco, a newspaper columnist and president/chief executive officer of Ancilla Enterprise Development Consulting, gave an in-depth review to the economics book titled “The Wound and the Blessing” by Prof. Luigino Bruni that aims to re-evangelize the field of economics and trading.
Her review was given an intervention by Mr. Gerneil Rivera of Rural Bank of Ibaan, Batangas, who is also one of the entrepreneur trainers of Bangko Kabayan, using his field experience as he fulfills his duties to the bank.
Singer-songwriter Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo and Ms. Geli Federoso showcased their newly released album “Magnificat”.
Other artists, such as Mr. Danilo Calicdan, Jr., Ms. Michelle Fajardo and her younger sister Ms. Renee Fajardo, international performing artist Mr. Marcy Bautista with Ms. Michelle Asprer also graced the event. (Jandel Posion)
