MANILA, Oct. 29, 2012—As the deadline for voter’s registration nears, a Catholic priest urged young people to register so they can vote in the upcoming 2013 elections.

Fr. Conegundo Garganta, executive secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Youth, said that young people must have an interest to vote in next year’s election.

“In order to practice their right to vote, young people must register as a voter until deadline on October 31, Wednesday. This is also a role for a young adult or those above 18 years old to take the privilege and the right to register to give their vote for the 2013 election,” Garganta said.

He said the process of registering and voting will be a concrete and positive participation on the part of the youth to the life of the community, as a good Christian and a citizen.

“Young people let us show that you are part of our country’s dream of developing our communities by proclaiming the faith in voting for the right person in the upcoming election. This will become a way to witness our faith by which we recognize the law that sets standards for our unity as a nation,” Garganta furthered. (Jandel Posion)
