Priest-composer launches ‘Magnificat’ album

carlo magnoMANILA, July 15, 2013— A multi-awarded Catholic priest and composer is back with a brand new album.

Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo launched new record “Magnificat” featuring singer Geli Federoso on the theme of transitions yesterday at the San Carlos Seminary auditorium.

Marcelo, a priest of the Archdiocese of Manila, is known for composing songs to highlight important Church events and personages like The Jubilee Song, Only Selfless Love, and Awit sa Ina ng Santo Rosaryo.

Currently the Dean of Seminarians and Director of the Theology Department of the San Carlos Seminary, Marcelo has also held posts in the Manila Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission.

In 1998, he co-founded the Jubilee Music Ministry to promote Catholic music and to help institutions that need financial assistance especially in producing quality music albums.

As the daughter of the choirmaster at a parish, Federoso started singing at three years old and has not stopped since then, winning competitions along the way.

Federoso has also had concerts with renowned music artists. While able to tackle skillfully pop and R & B, her forte is Gospel-inspired music. She sang the theme song of the Asian Youth Day in 2009. (CBCPNews)
