ISABELA City, Basilan, Oct. 23, 2012— As the Prelature of Isabela de Basilan launched its year-long preparation for its Golden Jubilee, Bishop Martin Jumoad took time to call on the soon-to-be-created Bangsamoro set-up to respect non-Muslims.

In his homily during an outdoor Mass at Claret College grounds last Sunday, Jumoad said, “How I wish the approach of the new government is respect, respect, respect.”
“We ask that the Bangsamoro political entity through its leadership to always observe utmost respect for everyone,” he said.
The bishop appealed to those who would occupy seats of power in the Bangsamoro political entity to prove “there’s no more graft and corruption” and work for “peace and development.”
He claimed that if only mayors would become “more visible” in their towns and there would be no more ambushes on Catholics in the province, the time would come when all Christians would say “Yes to the Bangsamoro.”
“As we ask our Catholics to renew, we also ask you brothers and sisters in Islam to do likewise as you change your style of leadership by being more conscious of justice, thereby reducing graft and corrupt practices to the minimum,” said Jumoad. (Melo M. Acuna/CBCPNews)
