MANILA, Sept. 25, 2013— Religious leaders appealed for accountability in the government over the pork barrel scam and an end to Mindanao crisis during an interfaith prayer service on Wednesday.

Muslim and Christian religious networks gathered at the Quezon Memorial Circle to sustain public attention to the pork barrel controversy.

Bishop Efraim Tendero, national director of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches, said the public should wage war against the pork barrel.

The prayer rally was convened by Tendero and National Ulama Conference of the Philippines (NUCP) President Dr. Amina Rasul.

The gathering is also a collaborative work with the National Council of Churches in the Philippines and the Imam Council of the Philippines with the participation of Sulong CARHRIHL.

The groups also sought to keep the bond of solidarity and peace between peoples of faith in a united call to put an end to on-going armed conflict in Zamboanga City.

They also stand by their belief in the power of prayer and a peaceful resolution to the divisions that afflict the country today. (CBCPNews)
