SAN MIGUEL, Leyte, Feb. 13, 2016 – With barely 3 months to go before the national elections, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting in the Archdiocese of Palo has been mobilizing for Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful, and Peaceful (CHAMP) elections initially with prayer.

St. Michael the Archangel parish priest Fr. Elmo Manching, head of the Palo Archdiocesan PPCRV, the local PPCRV secretariat will launch its own Facebook account to promote the Voter’s Prayer and other PPCRV campaigns and activities.

Manching also requested Palo Archbishop John Forrosuelo Du to appoint seven priests who will directly supervise the local councils in the seven vicariates of the archdiocese.

Manching stressed the need to have priests as PPCRV vicariate coordinators and saw no reason for the prelate to reject his proposal.

“We are thinking of meeting and organizing our priests and I hope they will receive their appointment letters from the Archbishop this coming presbyterial meeting,” said the priest, who gave his request to Archdiocesan Vicar-General Msgr. Rex Ramirez for consideration in the upcoming presbyterium meeting.

He also revealed the said proposal was in consultation with the archdiocesan pastoral board in a bid to systematize PPCRV supervision at the parish level.

These vicariates are Tacloban, Palo, Abuyog, Burauen, and Carigara in the eastern side and in Ormoc and Palompon in the west coast of the province of Leyte.

The Chancery–seminary vicariate was not among those asked to have a local PPCRV priest-coordinator, being a special vicariate. The command center will, however, be at the Chancery. (Eileen Nazareno-Ballesteros / CBCP News)
