MANILA, July 26, 2013—A non- governmental organization that focuses on helping street children in the metro will be celebrating its quindecennial anniversary next month.

Tulay ng Kabataan (TNK) Foundation, an organization that provides residential and outreach programs for street children in Manila, will be holding its 15th foundation anniversary on August 17.

The celebration will kick-off with a Eucharistic Celebration to be presided by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop and TNK Chairperson Socrates Villegas at the EDSA Shrine.

It will be followed by a celebration at the Pedro Poveda College where street children under the auspices of TNK will be performing presentation numbers and conducting special activities.

In light of this celebration, the organization is asking for donations that could help them provide the needs of street children under their care.

Among the donations they mostly need are electric fans, food donations, and various sports equipment. Interested donors may drop their donations at the TNK main office in Quezon City (94 Kalayaan Ave.), in Intramuros (CFC center-54 General Luna Street), in Ortigas (Edsa Shrine), or in Makati (1827 Santan Street – Dasmarinas Village).

Founded in 1998, TNK is comprised of Filipino coordinators, street educators, social workers, psychologists, teachers, nurses, house parents, community workers, and foreign volunteers who work hand-in-hand for the fulfillment of the organization’s mission of serving the poorest children in Metro Manila.

Their flagship activities include providing the residential and educational needs of street children (street children program), conducting pre-schooling classes and feeding programs for children aged 3 to 6 (children in slums program), giving food and health assistance to children living in dumpsite areas  (scavenger children program), and providing shelter and professional training to mentally-handicapped children (mentally-challenged youth program).  (Jennifer M.
