National Youth Commission calls for participants in China-ASEAN youth camp

MANILA, Nov. 1, 2011?Young Filipinos interested to meet and dialogue with fellow ASEAN youth are invited to participate in China-ASEAN youth camp which will be held during the 20th anniversary of the China-ASEAN dialogue relations this month.

According to the National Youth Commission website (nyc.gov.ph), 10 youth participants from ASEAN countries will be invited to the event and each delegation shall include one senior official on youth affairs as delegation head, one executive assistant and eight young journalists.

Organized by All-China Youth Federation, the said China-ASEAN dialogue relations 20th anniversary will be held in Beijing, Tianjin and Nanning in China from November 3 to 10, 2011.

The theme for this exchange program is “Friendship and Win-win Cooperation—celebrating the 20th anniversary of the China-ASEAN dialogue relations”.

Aside from official delegates, two observers from the ASEAN Secretariat are invited to participate.

Except for the delegation head, participants should be between 18 to 35 years old, healthy both physically and psychologically, able to communicate in English and participate in the whole program.

The national youth commission website further stated that the organizer will be responsible for buying the round-trip international air tickets for participants coming from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, but other delegates are required to arrange and pay for their own international flights.

The China Youth Federation will also provide all delegations with local hospitality, including food, accommodations and local transportation during the event.

Delegations are also invited to participate in the Essay Contest as a parallel activity. Topic for the essay is “China-ASEAN (or an ASEAN member country) relation in my eyes” using English as medium. Ten essays will be selected and awarded as Excellent Essays, which will be published on the China Youth Daily, China Youth On-line or China Youth Connection, and other newspapers and websites. The writers will be invited to visit China again in 2012. Each delegation shall submit at least 5 essays before November 3, 2011.

The national youth focal point in each ASEAN member country is expected to select the participants and submit the registration forms by November 3, 2011.
