NAGA City, Aug. 9, 2016 – A conference on print, radio and social media, organized by the Caceres Commission on Communications (CCCom) is slated on Aug. 19, Friday, at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary Auditorium.

Dubbed “WIRED: A Media Symposium”, the said conference has CBCP Episcopal Commission on Culture Executive Secretary Fr. Norman Peña, Jr., SSP as main speaker. Peña will discuss “Communication and Mercy in the 21st Century” in the morning and “Social Media Ethics and Evangelization” in the afternoon, as one of the workshops.

Caceres Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona, OCD will also be giving the keynote address for the said media symposium.

Other workshop speakers include Philippine Information Agency provincial head Lizel Macatangay and BSCAST Research, Extension and Production Enterprise Development Director Obel Cepeda, PhD. Macatangay and Cepeda will talk about “Print Media Evangelization and Online Publishing” and “Evangelization in Broadcast Media” respectively.

Participants are invited to contribute to the respective media apostolates of their chosen workshop. For print media, they may contribute as writers for the Caceres Inbox, the newspaper Bicol Mail’s Archdiocesan page. For the broadcast apostolate, participants may help through the Casarig Program.

For social media, participants may help maintain their parish social media account and be media evangelizers. According to CCCom Director Fr. Louie Occiano, Wired was organized “to celebrate [the] mission of proclaiming the Good News through modern means of communication.” (Natalie Hazel Quimlat / CBCPNews)
