MANILA, July 15, 2011?After some delay, the first Love Rocks! Youth Forum, which is one of the activities of the CBCP Year of the Youth, will be held on Saturday, July 23 at the Capitol (KB) Gym in Malolos, Bulacan.
An estimated 1,000 to 1,500 young people from all over Central Luzon will attend the half-day event that will start at 8am, according to Whilssy Candelaria, Youth Leader of Malolos Diocese.
In an interview, Loreto San Juan, team leader of Year of the Youth, explained the reason for having a love forum for young people.
“It is the most abused word that young people always use but one which they don’t completely understand, because everyone is looking for love,†he said.
San Juan also said that the Love Rocks! Forum will have “sharers†who will talk about their personal experiences and their search for love. He also explained that the youth will easily relate to the forum’s talk show-style format.
7 dioceses to attend
The organizers are using social media networks like Facebook and Twitter to promote and invite young people to the event.
The regional event will be inviting participants from all the seven dioceses in the Central Luzon region.
Candelaria also said that aside from the forum another major event is happening in Malolos during the week.
“Other than the forum, the National Youth Cross is also in Malolos for a four-day journey…It (NYC) will be here starting July 21.â€
YOTY, not just for Catholics
San Juan, who is also the Executive Secretary of Student Catholic Action of the Philippines, added that one of the objectives of the YOTY is to reach out, not just to Catholics or those who are active in youth ministry, but to all young Filipinos.
The original plan was for the youth forum to take place during the National Youth Cross’ visit to the regions, but this will happen for the first time in Central Luzon.
Since January this year, the National Youth Cross has been visiting different dioceses in the country.
The youth forum is scheduled to happen next in Northern Luzon and Metro Manila.
The forums in other regions will have the same content and creativity, except for the invited guests. (Jandel Posion)
