Bishop Broderick Pabillo

In a recent orientation about the Year of Faith given to lay leaders, heads of religious congregations and members of the clergy from the Archdiocese of Manila, Pabillo said there will be local missions like the sending of two batches of catechists from the Archdiocese of Manila to Taytay, Palawan for short-term missionary work.

He said, hopefully, foreign missions could start by October next year.

According to Pabillo, no specific areas or countries have been identified for the missions yet, as it will entail further study and assessment.

It also depends on the number of people who will volunteer for the mission trips.A special focus is also given to young people whose dynamism and energy make them ideal missionaries.

Pabillo said he looks forward to young people sharing their unique gift as evangelizers through the mission trips planned for the Year of Faith.

The planned missions are in line with one of the objectives of the Year of Faith that talks about “sharing the faith with others.”

Aside from mission trips, dioceses are encouraged to organize pilgrimages, celebratory gatherings, ‘prayer experiences’ and to use electronic media to talk about faith during the celebration of the Year of Faith, which commenced last October 11. [Nirva’ana Ella Delacruz]
