LEGAZPI City, April 27, 2013—The Diocese of Legazpi’s Commission on Youth has teamed up with the Carmelite Youth of the Philippines in Ligao City to renew the faith of the young people through a joint summer youth camp early next month.

Initially meant as a diocesan youth event, organizers opted for a joint activity on learning that the Carmelite youth are also organizing their 4th Carmel Youth Gathering.

It is hoped that at the end of the camp, participants will have a deeper understanding of faith, renew and witness to it, participate actively in having an honest, orderly and peaceful election, and discern one’s calling and animate vocation to priesthood and religious life.

Slated on May 2-5 at the grounds of the Kawa-Kawa Hill in Ligao City, the camp’s theme “Youth: Agents of Renewing and Fostering the Faith,” is inspired by the recently concluded Diocesan Congress on Faith.

In preparation for the event, an orientation meeting was held last April 17 at the Albay Cathedral Pastoral Center in Legazpi City attended by 45 delegation heads.

Organizers are expecting around 1,000 young people from the federation of diocesan youth organizations and movements, diocesan seminarians, and from the Carmel youth to attend the diocesan summer camp. (Jandel Posion)
