Kalibo diocese tackles life issues in 2-day congress

MANILA, Oct. 6, 2012—The diocese of Kalibo is holding a diocesan congress that will tackle controversial but timely topics on life issues on October 20 and 21.

The 4th Diocesan Congress on Family and Life will kick off with a day-long forum titled “The Gospel of Life” which will tackle different life issues with Blessed John Paul II’s encyclical as take-off point, at the Aklan Catholic College in Kalibo.

Dubbed So God created humankind in His Image, male and female He created them, the Congress on the first day will have two speakers talking about the feminist ideology, the New Age movement, pornography, and same-sex attraction in the context of the human person.

To tackle these subject matters are Dr. Ligaya Acosta and Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer, Human Life International (HLI) regional director for Asia and Oceania, and HLI-Pilipinas country director, respectively.

The second day of the two-day event will have simultaneous activities: the main Congress and the Forum on The Gospel of Life.

“The Human Person According to Blessed John Paul II” and “The Theology of the Body of Blessed John Paul II” are the titles of talks to be conducted in the main Congress.

The Forum is being held in celebration of the Year of Faith and in memory of the Polish pope, and shall include “The Gospel of Life, and Bioethical Concerns on Matters of Life” and “Doctors for Life, Professionals Upholding the Sanctity of Life, A Need.”

A Eucharistic celebration will be celebrated on both days of the event.  Kalibo Bishop Jose Corazon Tumbagahan Tala-oc, D.D., will be the main celebrant of the first day’s Mass.

The two-day event is organized by the Kalibo Diocesan Commission on Family and Life. (CBCP for Life)
