MANILA, Oct. 30, 2012—Spend All Saints Day and All Souls Day remembering the saints and their life while still living on earth, a Catholic priest told young people.

Fr. Conegundo Garganta, executive secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Youth said it will be good for young people to try to emulate the values of the 2nd Filipino Saint Pedro Calungsod and the other saints.

“San Pedro Calungsod showed to us his love for the Word of God and his love of life by sacrificing his life for God. He also showed that he can stand [for his faith] even in the face of death. So instead of taking time attending Halloween parties, you young people can attend activities remembering the saints,” Garganta said.

Garganta emphasized that the youth must see the importance of living a life like Pedro Calungsod and the other saints.

He also stressed that November 1 and November 2 is the time to reflect deeply on the life of the saints and also on the life of their loved ones who are already with God.

Garganta furthered that the Church must be of service to the young by organizing programs and activities that will help them remember and emulate the examples of the saints. (Jandel Posion)
