MARILAO, Bulacan, Dec. 14, 2015 – Malolos Diocese Bishop Jose Oliveros and the National Shrine and Parish of the Divine Mercy rector and parish priest, Fr. Prospero Tenorio led the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed multi-purpose hall and dormitory building with a 100-ft statue of the Divine Mercy held on Sunday, Dec.13.
Congress on Mercy
“We are grateful that the Shrine has been chosen to be one of the pilgrims’ sites during the Year of Mercy,” said Tenorio in an interview. “More so, this groundbreaking ceremony commences our ardent participation in the preparation for the ‘4th World Apostolic Congress on Mercy’ to be held in 2017 where the Philippines is set to be the host,” he continued.
The prelate also urged the Catholics to be the “living witnesses of God’s mercy” and to share His grace by engaging themselves in spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
“Let us look with compassion, let us listen with concern, let us live with cheerfulness, and let us love with Christ-likeness,” the priest told CBCP News when asked about his message to the faithful.
Opening of the Jubilee Door at the Shrine
Meanwhile Oliveros in his homily during the concelebrated Mass emphasized the moral dimension of corruption, saying: “Corruption is a sin. Extortion is a sin.”
“Let us have the humility to repent for our sins and ask for forgiveness especially in this Year of Mercy,” he added.
The prelate also called upon the parishioners to share their blessings to others so they can also receive and experience plenary indulgence.
