SAN PABLO City, August 10, 2011?Right values and proper disposition to accept the teachings of the Church on the regulation of birth are sure ways to make the natural family planning method to succeed, a pioneer NFP trainor said.

“Nay” Feling Porsuelo, one of the country’s pioneer in NFP education warned that a contraceptive mentality is possible even when the couple is using natural methods if there is no correct and proper disposition to embrace the core teaching of Humanae Vitae, Pope Paul Vl’s trailblazing and controversial encyclical on the Regulation of Birth.

But a family planning rooted in the Godly values imbued by marital intimacy which accept that every child is a divine gift will avert any contraceptive mentality, she said.

Porsuelo has developed the safest and inexpensive alternative grassroots natural method dubbed as Porsuelo method.

The surest way to ensure the sanctity of marriage and repulse promiscuous lifestyle is an effective, inexpensive natural method of fertility regulation which does not have side effects as that of oral contraceptives pills, she added.

Nay Feling was speaker at the workshop conducted last August 6 at the Parish of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Rosario Complex, San Pedro, Laguna for NFP trainors under the Diocesan Commission on Family and Life.

Fr. Jerry Oblepias, Director of the DCFL said the Diocese of San Pablo is promoting the Porsuelo method of natural family planning which had been endorsed by Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales.

The Porsuelo method uses all methods – basal body temperature, mucus, breastfeeding, and sympto-thermal with the values component given through workshops. Nay Feling who hails from Bukidnon and her late husband, Eli first learned the NFP in 1965.

For their pioneering effort, the Porsuelos were invited in Rome. They convinced the experts there of the effectiveness of the innovative method as safe alternative of natural family planning. The couple were appointed members of the Pontifical Commission for the Family. (George Dee)
