MANILA, October 5, 2011—As the Second Apostolic Congress on Divine Mercy goes into its second day on Krakow, Poland, the Philippine delegation of more than 200 appears to be one of the biggest groups in attendance.

Lipa Archbishop Ramon V. Arguelles, in a text message to CBCPNews, said Cagayan de Oro Archbishop Antonio Ledesma, S.J., Kidapawan Bishop Romulo dela Cruz, Malolos Bishop Jose Oliveros, Antipolo Auxiliary Bishop Francisco de Leon, and Novaliches Bishop Antonio R Tobias are among the Filipino bishops who joined the Congress.

“Our group is the biggest bishops’ delegation outside Poland,” Archbishop Arguelles said.

He added that over 200 Filipino delegates have come from the Philippines but there are other Filipinos who have come from other parts of the world.

One of the highlights of the Apostolic Congress was the visit to Autschwitz Bigenau where the delegates prayed for the millions of holocaust victims during World War II.

“We felt the presence of Maximilian Kolbe and Edith Stein,” Archbishop Arguelles added.

Today, there are scheduled to visit Wadowice and trace the paths Blessed John Paul II took during his younger days.
