MANILA, Oct. 9, 2012—Real life situations inspired by faith dominated the Digital Art Competition during the closing of the Archdiocesan Youth Month of Manila archdiocese.

‘Dangwa’, a short film; a poster the concept of which was inspired by the short film ‘A Child-like Faith’, and ‘Sakal’, dominated three categories on the recently concluded contest which were based on inspiration about faith.

“Our story is inspired by the real life story of our friend who suffers from cancer but never gave up,” said Joan Princess Arancon of Likhaan Production, maker of the film ‘Dangwa’ who won the best short film category.

Arancon also said that what they want to focus on is faith and in what situations this faith is exercised.

Meanwhile, Jhudiel Lim-Rañola, winner of the poster making category, said the concept of his poster was based on the short film ‘A Child-like Faith’ which is a story of two sampaguita vendors who prays first before and after they go selling flowers.

Lance Forteza, director of the above-mentioned short film narrated that he met two siblings in his parish who were sampaguita vendors whose faith is admirable in the midst of want.

“They used to pray before and after they go selling [sampaguitas]. Praying in such a way that they don’t ask for anything but thanking God for everything they have,” he added.

‘Sakal’, meanwhile, won the best documentary category.

The awarding was held last September 29 at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Auditorium after the Eucharistic celebration presided by Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo. (Emily Lingat/Jandel Posion).
