QUEZON City, Dec. 22, 2014—Pro-Life Philippines Foundation is set to mount an art exhibit starting on Jan. 7, 2015, which will feature works celebrating life, as well as the joys of motherhood by renowned Filipino painters and sculptors.
“We are using art to advance the advocacy of Pro-Life Philippines … a different genre. At the same time, to raise funds so we could continue defending family and life. We were able to talk to world-renowned painters and sculptors, so we will see paintings and sculptures,” Pro-Life Philippines executive director Lorna B. Melegrito told CBCP News in an interview.
Dubbed “Pro-Life is Pro-Art,” the event, which will explore the “joys of motherhood” versus the evils of abortion, aims to raise funds for the foundation’s daily operations including crisis pregnancy counseling and educational and inspirational talks to the youth.
The art works will be for sale, so we invite art collectors and art enthusiasts to come and check the artworks,” Melegrito added.
Participating artists are as follows:
- Luisito Ac-ac Robert
- Alejandro Paul Balan
- Eric Cachero
- Eduardo Castrillo
- Sandro Castrillo
- Joe Datuin
- Ace Dimanlig
- Ramon Orlina
- Dominic Rubio
- Fernando Sena
- Jose Vistan
In a released statement, Pro-Life Philippines boasts the group has been promoting the “culture of life” for the past 37 years as a front liner in the war against abortion.
“We emphasize the sacredness of life in all its stages, from conception to natural death, and we are willing to fight for everyone’s right to life, a right which all other rights are hinged upon,” it says.
