MUNTINLUPA City, Nov. 18, 2011?Salesian priest Fr. Mario Baclig, SDB told the youth gathered at the Don Bosco Youth Center in Tondo during the National Youth Day that they must never be afraid to dream.

“Hold on to your dream for your role in the Church is to contribute your dreams. We, the youth are ‘Agents of Change and Transformation’, but in order to be like that, we must be strong in the Spirit which helps in guiding us everyday” Baclig said.

“The Spirit is Love, and when it is in our midst, we are able to make miracles. Be that miracle and where the Spirit is, we can find Love. You are the miracles, my fellow young people,” he added.

Baclig shared how he and many other people including the late Pope Blessed John Paul II dreamt that the youth ministry would grow.

He told the youth how the youth ministry in the Philippines grew and shared his experience when he went to the WYD in 1989.

“We were only three delegates from the Philippines but still we brought our Philippine flag and were very proud. Then after the celebration of the World Youth Day 89, there were various workshops, activities, and gatherings for the youth started to pop in one by one,” Baclig said.

He added that two fellow youth once wanted to organize a youth camp to raise funds for the youth ministry.

“They dreamed, and now this Youth Camp is the biggest event in the country and has greatly contributed to the growth of the Youth Ministry,” he said.

He said those who organized the youth camp dreamed of that event to happen and were not afraid of the disadvantages or consequences it will take.

Everything started with a dream, he stressed. (Jandel Posion/Karina Tovera)
