MANILA, June 3, 2011?At least 50 motorcycling enthusiasts will take the country’s national roads in support of the abandoned elderly in Butuan City beginning Saturday, June 4.
Organized by Kuwait-based Fr. Ben “Among Ben†Barrameda, the riders, who are members of “Bikers One Philippines†will extend their assistance to the Abandoned Elderly in Pro Cristo, Butuan City.
“It’s ‘all systems go,’†Fr. Ben told CBCPNews after their pre-ride meeting at Macapagal Blvd. in Pasay City with the 50 registered riders and supporters from all over Manila.
On Saturday morning, the group will leave for Butuan City via Batangas-Calapan through the nautical highway. Some 50 riders along the way will join the Bikers One Philippines for this open charity ride.
The Kuwait-based priest organizes local pilgrimages and charity rides for people in need.
The group is supported by Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Shulan Primavera.
The first activity last year was the group’s pilgrimage to the Tri-centennial Celebration of Our Lady of Penafrancia in Naga City which took the riders to Camarines Sur and Albay provinces.
Barrameda said activities like these provide an avenue to care for their spiritual needs and solicit their commitment to support worthwhile projects. (Melo Acuna)
