MANILA, June 4, 2013—A member of the Committee on the National Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary has stressed the need to renew the consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary every year.
Fr. Yulito Ignacio, director of the Permanent Formation of Middle-aged and Senior Clergy of the Archdiocese of Manila said the consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will not be celebrated only this coming June 8, but will be done yearly.
“The simultaneous nationwide national consecration of the Filipino people to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will not just take place this coming June 8 but will be done every June 8 which is the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,” Ignacio said in a chance interview during a Church forum today in Intramuros.
Ignacio, who is also a member of the Pueblo Amante de Maria Mariological Society of the Philippines, added that as part of the program for the celebration of the Year of Faith and the Era of New Evangelization, the consecration will also be renewed every 1st Saturday of the month aside from annual consecration every June 8.
The priest however, emphasized that unlike this coming June 8 nationwide consecration, the monthly and yearly renewal of the consecration will not be held simultaneously but will be celebrated individually on all dioceses and parishes in the country.
“This event is also part of the 9-year preparation of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) for the 500 years celebration of Christianity here in the country on 2021 and the celebration of the Year of Faith. And the consecration is a time to revitalize the faith, the true meaning of consecration,” Ignacio furthered.
Meanwhile, CBCP secretary general Msgr. Joselito Asis is inviting all Filipinos to attend the national consecration event which will help in the personal conversion of every individual.
Asis believes that renewing and intensifying the faith through Mary will bring back those who are un-churched and non-believers to the faith.
The celebration of the National Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary “Isang Bayang Sumisinta Kay Maria” will be held simultaneously on all dioceses around the country on Saturday, June 8 at 10:00 in the morning. (Jandel Posion)
