BACOLOD City, Dec. 13, 2012—The Bacolod clergy performed a repertoire of songs and dances during a concert to raise funds for the sick and elderly priests of the diocese.

Sharing their gift for singing and dancing, the clergy with Bishop Vicente Navarra entertained the faithful from the different parishes and chaplaincies during the two-hour concert directed by Rene Hinojales with Jico Monte as musical director.

The concert, held last December 6 at the La Salle Coliseum opened with a message from Bishop Navarra who appealed to the faithful to support the Bacolod Priests’ Care Office that was established to look after the welfare of the sick and retired members of the Bacolod Diocesan Clergy.

Navarra also called the attention of the faithful to the ongoing projects at St. John Marie Vianney Complex that houses the new Domus Dei Hospice for the sick, retired, and elderly priests of the diocese in Hda. Maquina, Silay City.

During the concert, a group of priests that include Frs. Farley Santillan, Tomas Rito, Roy Gesulgon, Larme Obordo, Naring De la Cruz, Jesmar Manato, Brethen Gamala, Mitch Guadalupe and Sam Mariano, were designated as the frontliners, belting out pop songs from modern artists to Tagalog love melodies and medleys.

The event was also enlivened by another group of clergy, among them were Frs. Arnold Deletina, Jude Serfino, Paeng Baja, Casim Batalla, Louie Galbines, and Fel Duaban, who performed a latin dance medley and moved to the beat of Michael Jackson’s medley.

During the intermission, Msgr. Noly Que, who used to serve the diocese as parish priest of the Queen of Peace Parish, presented the mission, vision and goal of the Priests’ Care Office.

Close to 8,000 spectators packed the St. La Salle Coliseum during the event. (Adsum)
