PASIG City, Nov. 29, 2012—Leaders and some members of a youth group in an annual assembly highlighted the significance of reaching out to fellow youth with understanding and sympathy as they confront various issues in life.
The Chiro Pilipinas-North Manila District together with their Christi division of the same organization gathered 58 members from ages 13-15 and 18 leaders for Christi Day 2012 with the theme “Christilympics 2012: the Big Fight.”
The Christi Day, held last November 18 at Maybunga, Pasig City was part of the annual division day for the Feast of Christ the King.
This year’s Christi Day highlighted the importance of understanding the youth as they face various social issues they experience in their lives.
Participants understood the importance of social media as tools for communication, using it to reach out to know one another, gain friends and encounter God through others.
Aside from tackling social issues, participants also had games and other fun activities like in an ‘Olympics’.
Through games and fun activities, the division hoped to direct and channel the power of friendship and affectivity, the ability to make “myself a friend”, based on the discovery that Christ was one ‘who is for the others’.
Chiro groups who participated in this year’s Christi Day were the parishes of the Our Lady of Light in Cainta and Maria and the Ina ng Kapayapaan in Montalban which is under the diocese of Antipolo, the Mother of the Redeemer Parish in Deparo under the diocese of Novaliches and the Immacualte Conception Cathedral Parish, San Antonio Abad Parish and San Guillermo Parish all in Pasig diocese.
