Character formation expert coming to PH

PASIG City, July 19, 2016–One of the most respected authorities in character formation in the world today is coming to the Philippines!

Dr. Thomas Lickona, author of important books on developing virtues and educating the youth, will be in the country from July 30 until August 6 to speak in various conferences on the character development of young people, Patrick Lim, President, Character for Education Partnership (CEP) Philippines announced.

The main conference, “Sex, Love, and Character: Making the Right Decision”, will be held on August 5, 2016 at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) in Pasig City, from 12:30 to 4:30pm.

Dr. Lickona is a Developmental Psychologist and Professor of Education Emeritus at the State University of New York at Cortland, where he directs the Center for the Fourth and Fifth Rs (Respect and Responsibility).

A world-renowned author and speaker, Lickona served as president of the Association for Moral Education. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Character Education Partnership and speaks around the world to teachers, parents, religious educators, and other groups concerned about the character development of the youth.

Aside from the August 6 event at the UA&P, Lickona will also hold conferences in Laguna, Iloilo, Cebu, and Alabang.

On July 30 Lickona will deliver the talk “Raising Children of Character: 10 Things Parents Can Do” at the Morning Star Montessori School of Laguna from 9 to 11:30am.

This will be followed by the talk “Developing the Eight Strengths of Character: Preparing Students to Lead Ethical, Productive and Fulfilling Lives” at 12:30 to 3pm.

On August 1, Lickona will be at the PAREF Westbridge School in Iloilo City for an audience with students on “How to Easily Win the Favor of Your Teachers and the People Around You”, from 9 to 11am.

At 1:30 to 3:30pm, the educator will talk with teachers and administrators on “Techniques Award-winning Schools Don’t Want You to Know”.

To cap the day, Lickona will have an audience will parents from 6 to 8pm, centering on “How to Make your Child a Success Magnet”.

On August 4, the Lickona Institute of Asia will host the conference “Raising Children of Character”, from 9:30 to 11:30am for the first batch of parents, and at 1:30 to 4:30pm for the second batch.

On August 6, at the PAREF-Southridge School in Alabang, Lickona will deliver the following talks to parents: “Raising Children of Character: 10 Things Parents Can Do”, from 9:30 to 11:30am, and “How to Talk to Teens About Sex, Love and Character” from 1:30 to 4:30pm.
