MARIKINA City, Feb. 25, 2013—Hundreds of young people involved in the youth ministry were urged to seek God in prayer and allowed themselves be renewed and changed for the better.
Camillian priest Fr. John Paul Alvarado, reminded the youth during an overnight youth camp at the San Camillus College Seminary last February 23-24, to remain steadfast in their faith even if difficulties come their way.
“Amidst difficulties, never forget the many blessing God bestows, like the experience of Abraham where God blessed him with many descendants, millions like the stars,” the priest said.
Alvarado stressed the youth must imitate Christ especially in prayer, like what Jesus did during His ministry, even if busy, He was never busy not to pray.
He called on the youth participants to set time for prayer because it is in prayer that the grace of God abounds.
“By not forgetting that God’s blessings are far greater than our limitations and problems, we are led to change for the better. And by imitating Christ in prayer, we receive God’s grace and discover His will and be transfigured into goodness,” Alvarado furthered.
Meanwhile, Fr. Renante Sentillas, MI, rector and president of the seminary also emphasized the importance of knowing, loving and serving God, just the way St. Camillus did during his lifetime.
“The youth must know God, love God and discover Him through the sick. It is also important to discern and to pray in order to be guided by God in your daily life,” Sentillas said.
He furthered that St. Camillus is a good model for knowing, loving and discovering God, and the youth must imitate his way.
Themed “Journery of the Heart: Miloy, Huwaran ng Kabataang Pinoy,” the overnight camp was organized by the St. Camillus College Seminary in line with the Pilgrimage of the Relic (Heart) of St. Camillus de Lellis in the Philippines, on the occasion of the 400th year anniversary of his death.
Attended by more than 300 young people from different parishes and religious organizations, the camp aimed to aid the youth ministry to imbibe the Christian value of suffering, a positive appreciation and closeness with sick brethrens and exemplifies the founder’s legacy as patron of the sick.
