CEBU CITY, Jan. 25, 2011—Newly-installed Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma is wishing members of the charismatic renewal a revitalized closeness with the crucified and risen Christ.

Palma said this during a Mass to mark the 35th anniversary of the Catholic Charismatic Communities of Cebu (CCCC) on Sunday.

More than one million members of different Charismatic communities attended the celebration, according to the group’s spiritual adviser in Cebu, Monsignor Frederick Krickenbeck.

The archbishop expressed his hopes for strengthened unity among the members of the local charismatic communities, which he described as “little God’s blessing to Cebu.”

“The church needs one another through unity and diversity,” Palma said.

According to him, the unity maintained by the group has inspired more lay people to be active in the archdiocese.

The group also awarded Krickenbeck for his 50 years of service to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement in Cebu.

The prelate said he is also hoping that the Catholic movement will spread in other dioceses and be felt at the national level. (CBCPNews)
