MANILA, April 15, 2013—With the digital age creating the most comprehensive media platform for influencing culture, the Episcopal Commission on Social Communications and Mass Media (ECSCMM) of CBCP is organizing the 1st National Social Communications and Media Summit together with the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) on April 23.

Slated at the University of Asia and the Pacific from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. the event themed “Living Our Faith in the Realm of Media and Politics,” is set in line with the celebration of the Year of Faith and the 47th World Communications Sunday.

The conference aims to understand deeper the challenges that confront media practitioners as Catholic Communicators and come up with effective resolutions in strengthening the faith in their daily life.

“While the Commission initiates the pursuit of gathering and responding to the needs of the Catholic media practitioners, we have especially selected you because we believe this activity would be beneficial to you in your field of work,” ECSCMM said in a letter to invited media practitioners.

Media practitioner’s active participation is very vital as the commission gives due importance to Social Communications and Media in the context of Faith and Politics, especially now that the country is gearing towards the 2013 general elections when all these are put in a crucial situation.
