MANILA, August 24, 2012—The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is inviting the youth to attend the conference on chastity and sex-related issues organized by a student group at the University of Asia and the Pacific on September 1.
Fr. Conegundo Garganta of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth has invited diocesan youth directors, coordinators and leaders; representatives of member-organizations of Federation of National Youth Organizations; and youth ministers in the parishes and schools to attend the “Real Love Revolution 2012” conference which is set to take place at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from 1 to 5 p.m.
Former fashion model celebrity Leah Darrow and chastity advocate Chris Stefanick will speak before some 15,000 young people that are expected to attend the conference.
Garganta said the pro-life conference organized by UA&P-based Catalyst is very timely considering the prevailing national debate over the Reproductive Health (RH) bill, which is pending for approval at the Philippine Congress.
“It is indeed very timely and meaningful that a conference such as this is held. Moreover, having speakers from the West testify concerning this issue can be a powerful preventive way for our young people, leading them more faithfully to fullness of life in our Lord through the Church,” he said.
The conference is also supported by the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Family and Life, which spearheaded the Prayer Power Rally against the RH Bill at EDSA Shrine last August 4.
According to conference organizers, Darrow is also currently working towards her Masters in Pastoral Theology, at Ave Maria University. She is also a full-time apologist for Catholic Answers.
Stefanick, meanwhile, is currently the Director of Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministry for the Archdiocese of Denver. He is also an accomplished guitarist and songwriter, who have inspired thousands of teens all over the world to a deeper love for God. (YouthPinoy)
