MAKATI City, March 8, 2016 – The Philippine Federation of Catholic Broadcasters– Catholic Media Network (PFCB-CMN) held its 86th General Assembly (GA) from Feb. 23 to 25 at the Lay Formation Center (LFC), San Carlos Seminary Compound, Guadalupe, Makati City where members discussed major directions from the Road Map 2016 program.
The body, divided into the three regions of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, read the Road Map 2016 program which comprises:
- the Network Name Promotion;
- Program Embellishment;
- Use Leveraging;
- Community Based Radio Strategy;
- Personality Development/Values Training for CMN broadcasters
‘Solid support’
The Assembly was also privileged to hear directly from the popular GMA-7 television newscaster and RGMA Inc. president Miguel “Mike” Enriquez about Eleksyon 2016. Enriquez showed a short video of “Tama Dapat”, suggesting several guidelines for the stations present.
Meanwhile, CBCP Episcopal Commission on Social Communications (ECSC) chairman Bishop Mylo Vergara, who delivered the welcome address and inspirational message, assured the body of his “solid support.”
Aside from Road Map 2016, other topics tackled were:
- CBCP franchise;
- National Elections;
- Holy Week Celebration;
- Jubilee Year of Mercy and the Year of the Family and the Eucharist; and
- presentation of new projects and future plans
In connection with the celebration of the Year of Mercy, the General Assembly generously opted to extend their full assistance to surviving and small stations, which led to the creation of a special finance committee.
IEC wonders
The body also reserved some time to evaluate the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) that was covered by over 24 media outlets.
PFCB-CMN executive director and CEO Fr. Francis Lucas commented that indeed the “IEC had worked wonders!”
Thirty-two delegates present from 24 diocesan stations all over the Philippines were composed of CMN station directors/managers and other representatives. Sr. Mary Lynn Alfeche, CM represented the Catholic AM/FM radio stations of Mati, while Sr. Melvin Manligoy, CSJ was the official delegate of the the Catholic Trinity Cable Station (TCTV).
