MANILA, Sept. 19, 2013—Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal is now recovering after suffering a mild stroke Tuesday noon.

According to Fr. Joseph de Aquino, Vidal’s private secretary, the cardinal’s condition has since then improved, but remains under observation.

Cardinal Vidal underwent a series of tests, including a CT scan as of today.

“The cardinal can talk. So now, he is fine and recovering. But, he can’t have visitors,” de Aquino said.

“Cardinal Vidal expressed his gratitude to the media and the clergy of the Archdiocese of Cebu for offering mass intentions for his immediate recovery,” de Aquino added.

The cardinal was rushed to Perpetual Succour Hospital Tuesday noon after feeling weak.

Vidal is suffering from heart ailment.

He had previous major operations, including the installation of a pacemaker, heart bypass and angioplasty.

In 2012, he was rushed also to the same hospital after experiencing chest pains. (Jandel Posion)
