MANILA, August 14, 2013—Young actor Rocco Nacino said portraying the role of San Pedro Calungsod in a movie drew him to become closer to God.
In a one-on-one interview during the press launch of the movie “San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir” in Quezon City last August 11, Nacino disclosed how the movie has helped strengthen his spiritual life.
“Portraying the 2nd Filipino saint gave me many blessings right now. And it also helped me strengthen my spiritual life. I have been more God-fearing. Knowing how he sacrificed for the faith and for God, to spread His word, this really helped me a lot,” Nacino said.
“San Pedro Calungsod loves his religion and God. I too have been closer to God. Now, I appreciate my life more, my family, religion and faith more,” Nacino added.
Nacino believes his portrayal of the saint’s life has brought him blessings by getting more projects and developing his career.
Even if he’s a Born-Again Christian, Nacino pointed out there is no hindrance in terms of religion because he believes that God was the one who gave him this project.
He is hoping that the Filipino people will watch the movie to help strengthen their faith, no matter what religion they are in.
When asked about doing sexy roles after this film, Nacino emphasized that he will not entertain it for now because he want to keep the image since there are young people who sees him as a role model. (Jandel Posion)
