NAGA CITY, September 30, 2011—In response to Pope Benedict XVI’s launching of the 2nd Annual Global Rosary Relay for Priests, the Archdiocese of Caceres will launch its own Archdiocesan Relay on the first Friday of October from 1:00 – 5:30 P.M., in time for the feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.

Fr. Philip Francis R. Bersabe, the Rosary Relay coordinator said the activity will have three important intentions.

“The intentions include the sanctification of our priests, the growth of more priestly and religious vocations and the triumph of faith,” Fr. Bersabe told CBCPNews.

The relay will start at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary, the host seminary for this year’s feastday with Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legazpi, OP leading the praying of the Apostles’ Creed and the “Our Father” with the seminary fathers and seminarians, the three seminary rectors will pray the three “Hail Mary” and the whole seminary community, praying the “Glory Be.”

Each Marian parish will recite one mystery of the “Holy Rosary” for a duration of ten minutes with the first mystery starting at the Old Shrine of Our Lady of Penafrancia at 1:00 P.M. and end at the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Penafrancia with the Holy Mass at 5:30 P.M.

Archbishop Legazpi will be the main celebrant and preacher.

The relay will be covered and aired on radio, television and internet with Radio Caritas Mariae (98.3 FM) known as “The Mother’s Touch” as anchor with Kabalikat as VHF radio support in all participating parishes.

The Rosary Relay has been organized by the Archdiocese of Caceres through its Caceres Catechetical Ministry with the Caceres Commission on Communications, Three Million Rosaries for INA Crusade and the KBP Camarines Sur chapter. (Fr. Louie Occiano/Melo Acuna)
