MANILA, April 4, 2013— The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said it has not changed its plans and ‘mission’ despite the departure of some of its major partners.

Henrietta de Villa, PPCRV chairperson, said they will not let the move of the Archdiocese of Lipa to cut ties with them affect their commitment for voter’s education and poll watching.

And so with only 39 days before the May 13 national and local elections, “it is business as usual” for the church-based poll watchdog.

“We are saddened. But PPCRV is undeterred in its mission of renewing the elections by way of urging the Filipino voters to a conscience-driven love of country in their selection of candidates to vote for, and to mobilize the citizenry to participate in monitoring the conduct of elections,” de Villa said.

In the Church infrastructure poll watchdog operates in, she said they are grateful for the continuous support of many bishops, priests and religious.

“We are also very grateful to the thousands of volunteers who have pitched their tent with PPCRV,” she said.

Last month, the PPCRV held a three-day national conference in Manila attended by volunteers composed of archdiocesan coordinators, regional and sub-regional officials, Bangsamoro civil society organization partners, directors of national permanent committees and members of the Board of Trustees.

The poll watchdog has also tapped thousands of college students to help in its voter’s education campaign and vote guarding. (CBCPNews)
