SAN JOSE DEL MONTE City, Bulacan, Jan. 28, 2016 – Former Ambassador Henrietta T. de Villa, co-founder and national chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), called on individuals running for public office to bring back something she believes is sorely missing from the campaign trail: dignity.

“Let us bring back dignity in election campaigns,” said de Villa during a Mass for Honest, Orderly, and Peaceful Elections (Mass for H.O.P.E.) held in San Isidro Labrador Parish in Muzon, SJDM, Bulacan.

She also called on the faithful to support the “One Good Vote” PPCRV campaign, which was launched October 2015.

One good vote

The said campaign urges Filipino voters to choose their candidates wisely and say no to all forms of vote-buying.

“Let us all join hands in changing our nation with one good vote,” she said.

Meanwhile, parish priest Fr. Dennis Espejo stressed the country’s need for true and honest leaders.

“A true servant should be a role model with clean intentions and transparency in his actions,” he said in his homily. “We should elect leaders who are God-fearing and God-loving.”

Unity, support

The priest also called on aspiring candidates “to become good shepherds” and “follow Jesus Christ’s example.”

Organized by the parish and the barangay officials, the event aimed to show their unity and bilateral support in achieving a peaceful and orderly national election this coming May 9, 2016.

Aspiring political leaders who were present at the event took their pledge for an Honest, Orderly, and Peaceful Election (H.O.P.E.) to conclude the event. (Myraine Carluen Policarpio / CBCP News)
