MANILA, Jan. 24, 2013—February is Pro-Life Month and a Catholic Bishop has urged the public to celebrate the precious gift of life.
Antipolo Bishop Gabriel Reyes stressed the people’s need to realize that human life is threatened by society and the government.
“The passage of the Reproductive Health (RH) bill sets in motion events that may eventually see the passage of anti-life bills such as divorce bill, same-sex marriage bill, euthanasia and abortion. People disregard the teachings of the Church and turn to false ideologies that lead to the culture of death. Our youth are being slowly led to vice, corruption and sin,” Reyes said.
Reyes, who is also the Chairman of CBCP Episcopal Commission on Family and Life is urging all pro-lifers to participate in the activities of the Pro-Life Month as these will augment their faith and strengthen their will by the power of the Holy Spirit.
“Let us use this opportunity in order to help spread awareness about the prolife advocacy and how we can plant the seeds of a better future for our country by advocating the defense of life,” he added.
The prelate is also encouraging each parish to organize activities that will promote the pro-life advocacy to pave the way for the celebration of life and to make the month more meaningful to every Filipino.
Themed: “A Pro-Life Nation: The Future in our Hands”, the celebration will open with a Pro-Life Sunday Mass at 3:00 in the afternoon at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo.
Advocates will distribute Valentine Candies with Pro-Life Messages on February 14. On February 17, a Pro-Life Convention will take place at the Pope Pius XII Center in UN Avenue, Manila, with the theme “A Pro-Life Nation: The Future in our Hands”.
Mr. Eric Manalang, Pro-Life Philippines President will be the keynote speaker. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A registration fee of P500.00 will be asked from participants.
On February 21, a Healing Mass will be held at the Santo Domingo Church in Quezon City.
The month-long celebration will culminate with a Mass at the Redemptorist Church in Baclaran, Parañaque on February 24 at 10:30 in the morning.
Series of talks
Michael Voris, a Catholic speaker will also have a series of talks in celebration with the Pro-Life month.
From February 9-10, Voris will be in Davao and in Cebu on February 11-12. On February 13, he will give a talk in Siena College in Taytay, Rizal from 3-5 in the afternoon, and another talk with members of the Filipinos for Life at 7 p.m.
Next stop is at the University of Sto. Tomas on February 14. On February 15 he will be in the Diocese of Batangas for a talk from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at the CFC-Youth for Family and Life from 7 to 9 p.m. (Jandel Posion/CBCPNews)
